The Epoch Story
Ep·och /ˈepək/ - noun - a period of time in history or a person's life, typically one marked by notable events or particular characteristics
Everyone and everything has a story.
As my own story played out (and I was approaching my 50th Chapter) I found myself spending a lot of time in Thrift, vintage/antique stores browsing the shelves for treasures. My Dad used to call these "second-chance" Stores, and my appreciation for them has spanned every decade of my existence. When i was 5 years old I treasured the "little People" set my Mom purchased at Goodwill. At 10 years old, I "thrifted" the coolest pair of Pink and white Nikes that someone had scribbled on, but I still wanted them for back-to School. During those times, "second-Chance" shopping was a necessity for my family. When i started my own family, i found myself still frequenting thrift stores and antique Markets, to either find a bargain or simply for the novelty of finding objects that reminded me of times past. Objects that i could tell my children stories about.
I vividly recall the day i turned 30, when my Mom and dad pulled into my driveway in their oldsmobile station wagon. Out of the back they pulled a beautiful 1920's victrola. A gift. much like the one i had loved from my childhood. at 50, this Victrola still holds a special place in my home and in my heart.
"Second-chance" stores are A place where treasures are found and given a new life - another chapter. I sincerely hope that epoch Treasures is a place that will connect people of all ages to the past in some way - and that our treasures will become a special part of their story.
